From a distance, they look the same – high boots, trousers with deep pockets, a special helmet, protective visor and gloves. Many locals in Nagorno Karabakh, assume they are men. But these are women, and, like men, when they head into the minefields, they are doing so to help their families survive.
There has been an ongoing conflict for 25 years with Azerbaijan & Armenia over the disputed territory of Nagorno Karabakh. There have been 20 or more annual civilian casualties from landmines and unexploded ordnance.

Regarding her occupation, she said “later I understood that there is no bad work. There are just bad people. And now I’m proud that I’m doing a big and important humanitarian job.” “Honestly speaking, I had no sense of fear entering a minefield after that accident,” she elaborates. “It was deeply painful to me as a human being and I had a sense of huge responsibility to continue the work of my friends.” She intends to stay on the job. 1,2
Google Chrome’s market share in Azerbaijani increased by 7.8 percent in the first half of 2018.
Google Chrome is the most popular browser in Azerbaijan, which owns 65.8 percent of the market as of July 1. As of 2018, the statistics of the global market show that Chrome had a global market share of 58.15 percent, up from 54.2 percent in May 2017.3
As many as 1,288,900 overnight stays were registered in Azerbaijani hotels from this January to June, which is 19.3% more than in the same period last year, the State Statistics Committee informed on July 24. As for the countries where the hotel clients came from, 14.3% of overnight stays accounted for UAE nationals, 14.1% – Russia, 6.6% – Iran, 4.5% – Turkey, and 4.3% – Saudi Arabia. The others came from the UK, India, USA, Israel, Qatar, Kuwait, Iraq, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Germany, Ukraine, etc.4
Arts Council Azerbaijan and the Embassy of the Netherlands in Azerbaijan had an Art Expo together over the weekend. The project was formed to use artistic expression to strengthen ties between the two nations.5
